The Krakow Opera Choir was established together with the formation of an institutional opera stage in Krakow over 60 years ago. It is a versatile
ensemble, with a broad repertoire of opera and operetta works as well as masses, oratorios and cantatas, presented not only on the domestic stage of the Krakow Opera, but also elsewhere. The ensemble have been awarded on numerous occasions by music critics for their special tone colour qualities and even timbre of the singers. In 2012, the Choir prepared the Grand Choruses of Grand Operas performance, and successfully presented it at the Museum of Polish Aviation in Krakow, and at the Wawel Castle. They have recorded a world-premiere of Karol Szymanowski’s Lottery for Husbands or Fiancé No. 69 (2007) on DVD, and prepared a CD album with a concert performance of Stanisław Moniuszko’s largely forgotten opera Beata (2019). Among their many international tours, the one which merits a special mention is their performance of Arrigo Boito’s Mephistopheles in Trondheim, Norway. Since the 2024/2025 concert season, Andrzej Korzeniowski has been in charge of the Choir.
