
Maria Leszczyńska
Maria Leszczyńska is a cellist, chamber musician, and arranger. She was the recipient of second prize in the 12th Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition (2024) and has won numerous other cello and chamber music competitions. She has been awarded scholarships from the Sinfonia Varsovia Foundation, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Rector of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, the DAAD, and the Deutschland Stipendium.
She began playing the cello at the age of eight under the guidance of Michał Nyżnyk and later continued her studies with Marcin Zdunik. She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, where she studied with Andrzej Bauer. Currently, she continues her studies with Pieter Wispelwey at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. She has also refined her skills in masterclasses led by renowned artists and teachers such as Danjulo Ishizaka, Kazimierz Michalik, Arto Noras, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, and Jacob Shaw.
Leszczyńska has performed in concert halls across Poland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United States. Since 2013, she has been a member of the Multi Trio, alongside Ewa Pobłocka and Ewa Leszczyńska. She is also a member of the Warsaw Trio and the Upbeat Piano Trio.
Maria Leszczyńska successfully arranges a diverse repertoire for chamber ensembles. Her arrangements have been performed on various occasions, including twice at the Vienna Philharmonic Ball by the Scandinavian Cello School ensemble, led by Jacob Shaw. Since 2021, she has collaborated with the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit. Additionally, since 2022, she has taught cello and chamber music classes at the Augustów Cello Workshops.
